The Bad Harzburger Silvesterlauf is a New Year's Eve running event held at Sportpark Bad Harzburg, offering races for all age groups instead of a single distance. The program includes a 400-meter Bambini lap, plus 1,500, 3,000, 5,000, and 10,000 meters, catering to children, casual runners, and those seeking a challenging end-of-year run.
The shorter routes are situated near the sport park: the 1,500-meter race extends up Herbrink toward the forest edge, and the 3,000-meter course reaches near Café Goldberg. The 5,000-meter and 10,000-meter races proceed toward the Abschiedswald. This event marks its 40th edition and has returned to an in-person format following a semi-virtual iteration. A modern timing system provides each runner with a chip for turn and finish stamps; 10,000-meter participants also stamp at a pass-through point, while Bambini runners do not use race numbers.
