Bergzeitfahren Altmühltalcup is a regional cycling cup in Bavaria’s Altmühl valley, built around four uphill time trials. It starts in May and uses short, hard climbs rather than bunch racing: riders go against the clock, and the overall cup links the separate hill climbs into one competition. The opening round has been held at Hausen, organised by TSV Greding, with riders tackling the climb between Hausen and Kraftsbuch.
The cup is still young, but it already has a proper local racing shape. Eva Schien of TSV Gaimersheim set a women’s record on the Hausen climb, while Tobias Häckl of Radfreunde Hilpoltstein won the men’s race there after winning it before. The youth fields have grown, and entries rose by more than twenty percent even with another Altmühl valley cycling event nearby. Kipfenberg hosts a road time trial on the Bayerischer Mittelpunkt course, a compact 3 km climb with 130 metres of elevation gain, organised by Radsport Kipfenberg.
