The Berliner Silvesterlauf is a New Year’s Eve run held in Berlin’s Grunewald forest. The start and finish are located at the Harbigstraße/Waldschulallee parking area, across from Mommsenstadion. SCC Berlin organizes this event, which is one of Germany’s larger New Year’s Eve runs. It provides runners an opportunity to conclude the year before the city’s evening festivities commence. The race features multiple distances, ranging from 2 and 4 kilometers to approximately 6.3 and 10.2 kilometers, allowing families, casual participants, and experienced club runners to select a suitable course.
The longer route crosses Teufelsberg and Drachenfliegerberg. The 6.3-kilometer course includes Teufelsberg, presenting a more challenging, hilly terrain compared to a standard park circuit. The ascents require effort, the descents demand careful footing, and the elevated points offer expansive vistas over Berlin. Costumes contribute to the enjoyment, with homemade attire particularly encouraged. The courses are designed to be manageable for participants in costume. This event is also known as the Pfannkuchenlauf, as participants receive a pancake upon finishing. Some pancakes are filled with jam, while others are served with mustard.
