The Brauereienlauf is a September running event in Franconian Tuscany, the hilly beer country around Litzendorf, Strullendorf, and Gundelsheim in northern Bavaria. It offers a marathon, half marathon, and 10 km race, with shorter 500 m and 1,000 m runs for children, attracting serious runners, club runners, casual entrants, and young first-timers. The race name means “brewery run,” and this is literal: the route passes numerous local breweries, and the aid stations serve more than water and sports drinks.
The southern route uses the lower half of Franconian Tuscany, with the half marathon laid out as a loop through the area around Litzendorf and Strullendorf. Along the course, special “Stimmungsnester” act as refreshment points with Franconian food, regional treats, and beer. The event started with a September edition and now emphasizes its village-festival feel, with running, local brewing culture, and Franconian cooking all part of the day. Organizer Tricamp GmbH plans to alternate between northern and southern routes each year, so returning runners see different villages, roads, and breweries.
