The Kerpener Eifel-Rursee-Tour is an annual RTF cycling event organized by RSC Kolpingstadt Kerpen, a club established in 1978. Starting from the Kerpen-Sindorf vicinity, it directs participants south of Kerpen along three route choices: 42 km, 72 km, and 112 km. The longest route includes approximately 900 meters of climbing. This event is a road-cycling tour, not a closed-course race, featuring straightforward registration and a relaxed departure.
The course departs the outskirts of Kerpen-Sindorf, heading into agricultural areas before crossing the Zülpicher Börde and entering Eifel landscapes. The 112 km option extends to Schwammenauel, near the Rursee region, while shorter routes remain nearer to Kerpen. Routes up to 75 km are marked, and longer distances are navigated using GPS files; in the Eifel, road selections are sufficiently distinct that additional signage is less critical. The initial aid station is positioned before the first significant ascents, offering refreshments and the characteristic hospitality of club events, encouraging a brief pause before the more demanding sections commence.
