The Lahnpark-Lauf in Wetzlar centers on a 30 km race, positioned between a half marathon and a full marathon, rather than adhering to the standard 42.195 km distance. This late-summer road running event offers 5 km, 10 km, half marathon, and 30 km races, alongside Bambini races for children. The field is moderately sized, typically drawing a few hundred participants, and the flat course provides an opportunity for fast times.
All races commence on Dammstrasse near the Lahn River, utilizing out-and-back routes along the R6 cycle path between Wetzlar and Giessen. Each lap covers 10 km, making the longest race a three-lap circuit. Many runners use this event as a final tune-up before autumn marathons. The race originated from a training group led by Werner Schanne, is managed by Team-Naunheim Sport e.V., and is included in the Mittelhessen-Cup. Age-group winners receive trophies, and the event provides aid stations, kilometer markers, changing facilities, showers, and refreshments at the finish.
