On Rügen, Germany's largest island, Megamarsch Rügen challenges hikers with a 100-kilometer route and a 24-hour limit on an autumn weekend. A 50-kilometer option with a 12-hour limit is also available, and participants can decide at the 50-kilometer mark whether to finish or continue. This event is an extreme hiking challenge from the Megamarsch series, focusing on steady movement, endurance, and managing extended time outdoors.
The route crosses Rügen's Baltic Sea coast, beaches, forests, quiet roads, and island towns, heading north through Binz toward Sassnitz before returning. Start and finish locations will be provided by the organizer, with central access planned. Hundert24 GmbH organizes the event with the Rügen Tourism Association, presented by Columbia. This is Rügen's second edition in the series, featuring a unique medal system where hikers can earn two finisher medals. The Megamarsch circuit is Europe's largest long-distance hiking series, with events across Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Spain, attracting tens of thousands of participants annually.
