Nikolauslauf Senftenberg is a running and walking event held in early December in Senftenberg, Brandenburg, utilizing the area around Lake Senftenberg instead of city streets. The event includes routes of approximately 2.5 km, 6.6 km, and 17.5 km, accommodating children, walkers, casual runners, and cup-series competitors. It is part of the Niederlausitz Cup and the Fürst-Pückler-Pokal, and has been held over twenty times. Registration and changing facilities are located at the elementary school gym near the lake. Start and finish points are at the school area or Senftenberg harbor, varying by edition.
The longer route follows the bike path around Lake Senftenberg, starting from Senftenberg towards Großkoschen, passing the “Leaning Tower,” then proceeding through Peickwitz, Südsee, and Niemtsch before returning to the harbor. The 6.6 km course goes towards Niemtsch with a turn loop, and walkers have a separate start on the lake route. Participant numbers are typically local and practical; one edition recorded 183 participants, including 23 walkers who started before the runners. The race has been associated with local organizers such as the Senftenberg SPD association and the Senftenberger Laufgemeinschaft, with Reiner Rademann serving as race director.
