Silvesterlauf Schliersee is a New Year’s Eve run around Schliersee, a lake in the Bavarian Alps south of Munich. The main race is 7.6 kilometers, short enough for strong local runners to race hard but long enough to make a full lap of the lake. The field is regional and compact: the reported race had 363 starters, was fully booked, and drew about 70 more runners than the previous edition. Cool weather and bright sunshine gave it the feel of a clear winter send-off rather than a big-city road race.
The course circles Schliersee, with the lake setting the shape of the run from start to finish. Local club runners feature heavily, including athletes from the MSBB Team, PTSV Rosenheim, RSLC Holzkirchen, SC Leitzachtal, Lauffeuer Chiemgau, and WWW Racing. The men’s race was won by local runner Maxi Berger in 24:52, ahead of Michael Eder and previous winner Anian Rottmüller, while Cathia Schär led the women in 28:05. The age-group depth is part of the event’s character: M30 was the largest category with 57 runners, and district athletes collected wins from U16 through M70 and W60.
