Silvesterlauf Unna is a New Year’s Eve run and walk in Unna, organized by TV Unna on the last day of the year. It begins at Katharinenschule on Bornekampstraße and functions more as a community sports afternoon than a competition: there is no timing, and participants go at their own pace. The event collects funds for a good cause, with hundreds of people participating year after year.
The meeting point is the schoolyard, where participants reconnect with friends and acquaintances before setting off. Four courses are available, including a 1200-meter loop for the youngest runners around the first pond and back to the start and finish. The 5.5-kilometer route passes under the A44 bridge, continues to Zur Österwiese, and returns to Katharinenschule. Its familiar, local character distinguishes it from many other New Year’s Eve runs in the region.
