Ultratrail Pfälzer Weinsteig 2026

Ultratrail Pfälzer Weinsteig is a two-day ultratrail in Germany’s Pfalz region, run along the Deutsche Weinstraße in October. The main race is a non-stop 170 km mountain trail with about 6000 meters of climbing, and there is also a 70 km non-stop option with nearly 2100 meters of elevation gain. The long race starts at 9 AM, uses a 39-hour cutoff, and is capped at only 30 runners. The organizers want experienced entrants, specifically runners who have already finished at least one 100 km race. The route follows the Pfälzer Weinsteig through vineyards, castle country, narrow paths, wider forest trails, and traditional wine villages. Starts are listed in places such as Schweigen-Rechtenbach and Neustadt an der Weinstraße, with the event described as running from wine gate to wine gate. Holger Gremmers describes a course that keeps going up and down, with many castles and enough variety that runners do not have much time for photos.
