The Güell a Lluc a Peu begins in Palma’s Plaça Güell and concludes at the Santuari de Lluc, transforming an old Mallorcan act of thanksgiving into a long-organized walk. It takes place on the first Saturday in August and is classified as a caminata, not a running race. The route is entirely on asphalt, ascending approximately 700 meters, descending about 200 meters, and reaching roughly 840 meters above sea level, with a 13-hour time limit for participants.
The walk continues a tradition of traveling on foot to Mare de Deu de Lluc from any point on the island, often after completing school, recovering from illness, or fulfilling a vow. Grup Guell manages the modern event from its Palma start. The format remains straightforward: a single category, no participant limit, 11 drink stations, 9 food stations, food at the finish, diplomas for finishers, a prize draw, and a portion of the proceeds allocated to charity.
