The Carreira da Auga de Sada turns a local run in Sada, A Coruña, into a fundraiser for UNICEF, with entry fees donated to children’s causes and the Water and Sanitation program in Niger. It is promoted locally as a summer community event and is organized by Club de Atletismo Sada with the town council’s support. The main running option is 10 km, but the day is broader than one race: there are children’s races by age category and walking events for people who want to join without racing.
The start is on the Paseo Marítimo beside the Casa de la Cultura Pintor Llorents, putting the event right on Sada’s waterfront. Walkers can choose an 11 km route or a short route of about 3 km, while runners range from young children to senior and masters categories. The race has reached its tenth edition, and its clearest tradition is practical solidarity: every registration includes a UNICEF donation, with extra voluntary donations available.
