The Carrera Popular San Bartolomé begins and ends in Parque Manuel Carrasco on Avenida Pierre Cibié in Martos, a town in Jaén, Andalusia. This evening road race takes place in August, with the main event covering 5.5 kilometers on an urban circuit. The series is now in its twenty-seventh edition and is organized by the Martos City Council.
The program includes categories for a wide range of runners, from Chupetines for very young children through Sub10, Sub12, Sub14, Sub16, Sub18, disabled athletes, and veterans. Shorter races cover 0.15 km, 0.8 km, and approximately 1.6 km, while the main field runs through representative parts of Martos before returning to the park. The Andalusian Athletics Federation homologates the times using its own timing system, so the race has a local festival feel but formal race timing.
