Cuerda Larga Nocturna is a night mountain event in the Sierra de Madrid, centered on the Cuerda Larga ridge and the ascent of Najarra. It commences in the late afternoon, approximately 5 p.m., concluding around dusk, typically near 10 p.m. Participants navigate the final section of the course under moonlight, starlight, and the illumination of headlamps.
The extended route commences on broad, open trails allowing participants to travel together, occasionally without headlamps. The final two kilometers to Najarra traverse a pine forest, requiring headlamps. Shorter route options originate from Puerto de la Morcuera. An additional format crosses the Sierra de Hoyo over rocky, narrow paths, covering 9 km with +350 m elevation gain for adults and 6 km with +250 m for children. The event caters to individuals who appreciate outdoor activities, and standard guidance recommends carrying a charged mobile phone.
