La Perico starts and finishes in the medieval city of Segovia, in Castile and León. It is a Spanish cyclosportive named after Pedro Delgado, and riders often call it “La Perico,” a nickname tied to Delgado, the Tour de France winner the event honors.
The route is built around four classic Central System climbs: Navacerrada, La Morcuera, Canencia, and Cotos. It is a hard mountain loop rather than a gentle touring ride, with long stretches through pine forest and high roads that leave Segovia behind for rougher mountain country.
