Only 400 riders can enter Marcha Solidaria Monteareo BTT, an annual 52 km mountain bike charity ride based in Guimarán, Asturias. It takes place in September as a solidarity event against childhood cancer, and the organizers describe the march as non-competitive, though it also scores for the Asturias BTT Marathon Cup.
The route uses the Monte Areo BTT circuit, and a permanent version of the course can be ridden at any time of year. All proceeds go to the Galbán Association of Families of Children with Cancer of the Principality of Asturias and the La Fe Health Research Institute. Those who do not ride can still donate through the “Fila Cero” option. The association behind the event is run by volunteers, giving the ride a local, hands-on feel rather than a purely commercial race setup.
