The Quiroga Trail Challenge is a mountain running event held in Quiroga, Lugo province, Galicia, with races in the Montañas do Courel. It typically takes place in late winter, featuring multiple distances. These include the Carreiriña Do Lor 9K, the Mini Trail Do Lor 17K, and longer trails for experienced mountain runners. Some routes are eligible for UTMB Index points, contributing to UTMB qualification. The event is organized by Concello Quiroga and Montouto Club de Montaña.
The routes traverse forests, pine groves, streams, old paths, remote villages, and the rocky terrain near Quiroga. One race follows the Lor river, presenting a technical course. Runners will cross the Parteme river via bridge, ascend back towards Quiroga from the river, and in certain sections, ropes are provided to aid progress. Recent editions have attracted over 1,000 participants from Spain and Portugal. The organizers also promote a zero-waste policy, eliminating single-use plastics at aid stations and encouraging reusable items for runners.
