RTS - Camero Viejo is a trail running series held in Laguna de Cameros, Spain’s Alto Camero Viejo region. Races vary from a 1.2 km children’s run to a 63 km ultra. The 10 km PROMO race includes over 350 meters of climbing and has organizers as a quick, enjoyable mini-trail with mixed terrain. A 10 km non-competitive hike is also available, alongside the 30 km CLASICA with over 1,400 meters of elevation gain, and the ULTRA TRAIL, exceeding 60 km with more than 2,800 meters of climbing.
The longer courses traverse the forests and villages surrounding Monte Real, deviating from the immediate vicinity of the town. The 30 km race winds through beech and old oak forests. The ultra connects Laguna de Cameros, Ajamil de Cameros, Rabanera, San Roman de Cameros, and Hornillos de Cameros, before passing through the Hayedo de Monte Real Natural Reserve. The children’s Mini Trail remains within the town and nearby areas of Laguna de Cameros, beginning at Plaza del Teleclub, passing Santo Domingo de Silos and the cemetery, and concluding via Calle Mayor. Race morning includes local activities such as breakfast in Laguna’s bars, bib collection at the village dance hall, an exhibition at the town hall, PROMO trophy awards in Plaza Fernando de la Camara, and a tasting of a local dish around noon.
