San Silvestre Villa de Mieres is an evening running event in Mieres, Asturias, taking place in late December before New Year’s Eve. Club Atletismo Mieres is the organizer, with the start and finish located on Calle Ramón y Cajal, adjacent to the City Hall and Plaza de la Constitución. The event begins with children’s races and concludes with races for adult and veteran runners, functioning as a family race night rather than solely an adult competition.
The race is a fixture in the local festive calendar, attracting participants from young children to veterans. Adult participants must be aged 15 or over, while children’s categories are free. These include short races such as 50 meters for Chupetines and 150 meters for Mini-benjamines. This edition marks the thirty-first running of the race, reflecting its established local history as a town-center San Silvestre.
