The Skoda Titan Desert is a six-day mountain bike stage race focused on desert riding, typically in Morocco. Participants confront long stages across heat, wind, open plains, sand, and rocky tracks, making survival of the terrain as crucial as speed. Founded in 2006 by Juan Porcar, the race was conceived with the Paris-Dakar spirit: a point-to-point adventure where riders must navigate rather than simply follow a marked course.
The route varies by edition and has also taken place in Spain’s Tabernas Desert in Almería, yet the core concept remains: significant distances, minimal course marking, and essential navigation. Initial editions covered distances from 350 km over four stages to approximately 500 km in the Moroccan desert, with adverse weather occasionally necessitating route adjustments. Professional cyclists have competed alongside amateur riders, and the event is managed by RPM, which later formed a partnership with Amaury Sport Organisation.
