Maantiekisat is a Finnish road cycling race weekend held in Oulu and Montta in Muhos. It features the Terva-ajot road races alongside Finnish and international championship criteriums. Elite men and women compete in both open-road races and tight city-style laps. Even if entries do not meet the organizers’ target, the event maintains a lively and well-organized atmosphere.
The Koskikeskus criterium stands out, looping beside the river estuary near central Oulu. This course received strong praise from participants and others involved. The weekend relies on cooperation with authorities, referees, partners, and volunteers. Race director Pekka Hartikka credits this group effort for providing competitors with solid racing conditions annually. Recent elite winners include Essi Pelto-Arvo (women’s Terva-ajot road race and women’s championship criterium), Jaakko Sillankorva (men’s Terva-ajot road race), and Matias Ahtosalo (men’s championship criterium).
