Maantiekisat 2026

Maantiekisat is a Finnish cycling race weekend held in the Oulu area. It combines Terva-ajot road races with Finnish championship short-track racing. The events take place in Oulu and Montta, Muhos, over an August weekend. This event prioritizes riders over a large public gathering; recent participation was lower than organizers hoped, but the race venue maintained a strong atmosphere. The Koskikeskus short-track course, situated beside the river estuary near central Oulu, is the most highly regarded section. The race's execution relies significantly on local partners, referees, public authorities, and volunteers. Race director Pekka Hartikka highlights this collaboration as key to the races proceeding without issue. Recent podiums have featured Finnish club and trade-team riders, including Essi Pelto-Arvo, Jaakko Sillankorva, Matias Ahtosalo, Suvi Pitkänen, Camilla Schröder, Erika Ingves, Jonna Monto, and Veikka Toivonen.
