Metsä Group Seurakisat is a free, open children’s and family athletics series in Huittinen, Finland, with races and field events on spring and summer evenings. Children do not need a club sports school place or a competition licence; families register at the venue shortly before the events. The aim is to practise basic movement skills in a low-pressure setting, while also giving sports school children a chance to try competition routines.
The programme includes cross-country running at Huittisten Ratsastuskeskus and Kännölä, and track-and-field events at Huittisten urheilukenttä. The youngest children run short distances like 40m, 60m, or 300m and try sandpit jumping, ball throwing, or a light spinning javelin. Older children run up to 1400m and add long jump or javelin. Each meeting begins with a playful group warm-up for children and young people. Every participant receives a Seurakisakortti, collects a sticker for each appearance, and can use the card to record summer results. Prizes are not given at each event, but everyone is celebrated later at the Kunniakierros Lap of Honour.
