The Ankkurikisa is a district-recognized athletics competition held at Ankkurikenttä in Alajärvi, organized by Alajärven Ankkurit. It begins in the early evening and is intended for junior athletes, featuring distinct boys’ and girls’ categories for the 9-, 11-, 13-, 15-, and 17-year age groups. The schedule includes a focused track-and-field program. The youngest participants compete in a 150m run and long jump. Older age groups also participate in hurdles, high jump, pole vault, triple jump, shot put, hammer throw, javelin, and an 800m race for the 17-year-olds. Event entry fees apply, with increased costs for late registrations. Its district-awarded status integrates it within the local Finnish athletics competition structure.
