The Bayman XXL is a full-distance triathlon held at Mont-Saint-Michel in Normandy. The abbey and bay are situated directly alongside the racecourse, not merely serving as branding. The XXL race follows the Ironman format: a 3.8 km swim in saltwater, a 180 km bike ride, and a 42.195 km marathon. Shorter L and M triathlons are also part of the event program.
The swim course allows spectators to observe athletes closely and offers participants a view of Mont-Saint-Michel during the return leg. The bike course is predominantly rolling with some ascents. The run includes the distinctive challenge of ascending Mont-Saint-Michel before the finish line, which is set against the backdrop of the monument. Over 20,000 spectators attend, with participants including age-groupers, international athletes, professionals, and sports personalities.
