The Bernex Trail Challenge takes place in late June in Bernex, a Haute-Savoie mountain village situated near Lake Geneva and the Dent d’Oche. It features four main distances: 8 km, 21 km, 30 km, and 62 km. Participants can select a short alpine run or a long mountain day with 4,300 m of elevation gain. The 62 km race begins at night from the Bernex station. The 8 km option includes 350 m of climbing, indicating the challenging nature of the terrain even for the shortest course.
The routes traverse mountain and forest trails within the Bernex valley. The 21 km course incorporates ridge sections offering views towards Lake Geneva and Mont Blanc. The 30 km route circles Mont Benand towards the Col de Creusaz, and the 62 km course passes through locations like Mémises, Chalet d’Oche, Bise, and Ubine. Both solo runners and relay teams are welcome. Time limits and mandatory equipment are enforced for the relay for safety reasons. Families can participate via the children’s Marmo’Trail, and the race weekend coincides with the Fête de la musique.
