BueRun is a short urban trail race in Liège, Belgium, centered on the Montagne de Bueren staircase, which features 374 steps at a steep 30-degree pitch. Held in late April, the race covers approximately 8.7 km for solo runners and two-person teams. Participants ascend the stairs three times, totaling over 2,200 steps climbed or descended.
The course combines Liège's old town with forested areas, but the staircase is the defining feature each time runners encounter it. Competitors have characterized it as a wild city trail, and the stairs themselves have been labeled the “most extreme stairs in the world.” The event is open to participants aged 14 and up, with limits on solo and duo entries. It includes chip timing, a water station, a finish aid station, and a finisher medal.
