The Corrida de l'Avent is a night running event in Martinvast, a village in Normandy, featuring races on a lit circuit through the town center. It is centered around the Advent season instead of a typical morning road race: runners begin after dark, with children and teens participating in their own free races ranging from 620 meters to 2.6 km. Adults can select the popular race of approximately 5.2 to 5.4 km or the ranked elite race covering about 6.4 to 6.5 km.
The course is short, local, and straightforward, with the illuminated village loop serving as the primary guide. Martinvast Festivités organizes the event, and the setup maintains a deliberately community-focused scale: bib pickup occurs at the town hall, each participant receives a gift, the top three men and women in the elite races are awarded prizes, and hot drinks and crepes are available on-site. Costumes are encouraged, contributing to the event's atmosphere as a festive village evening rather than solely a serious competition, despite the elite races still requiring the standard medical certificate or competition license.
