The Corrida de Saint-Pierre-des-Corps is a night running event held in the city center of Saint-Pierre-des-Corps, Indre-et-Loire. It features two Bronze FFA-certified races: a 1,609-meter mile and a 5 km corrida. The mile begins in the early evening, with the 5 km starting an hour later. Both races commence on Avenue de la République. The officially measured, flat course provides a competitive racing environment, complemented by a local atmosphere.
The 5 km course consists of two 2.5 km laps through central streets. This race contributes to rankings, club points, French Championship qualification, and the departmental championship. Participants include club runners, non-licensed runners, men, women, handisport athletes, children, and those aiming for a fast time. The 5 km has seen notable local performances, such as departmental records of 14:53 for Masters men, 15:20 for Cadet men, and 16:44 for Espoir women. The mile holds a women’s departmental record of 5:35.37 across various age categories. After over thirty editions, the event continues to combine athletic achievement with a straightforward social concept: race intensely, then gather for refreshments with fellow participants.
