The Course du Souffle de Marseille, La Virade de l'Espoir, is a charity road race held at Parc Pastré in Marseille. It takes place on the last weekend of September, coinciding with France's national Virades de l'espoir day. The event features short road races, with recent options including 6 km and 13 km. Earlier editions also offered 7 km and 10 km races, alongside a 3 km walk. Funds raised support medical research and awareness for cystic fibrosis. The event's name alludes to donating one's breath for those who cannot breathe freely.
The Marseille race begins in the morning within Parc Pastré, allowing runners and walkers to utilize the park before it becomes a broader family fundraising area. A large paella is served at noon, followed by entertainment, activities, and a refreshment stand. This edition has consistently been held at Parc Pastré for several years, with sports reporter Pascal Martin acting as its patron.
