Le Lion is a road-running series in eastern France, held in September between Montbéliard and Belfort. The French Athletics Federation awarded it a gold label, and the race also holds an international label, indicating a high standard of organization and official oversight. The course runs uphill from Montbéliard to Belfort to meet international requirements for the label. Le Lion features multiple races, not just one start, and its participation is increasing: approximately 6,300 runners participated in the various events recently, with about 8,000 anticipated for the upcoming edition. The organizing committee acknowledges volunteers, partners, and local communities for sustaining the event's quality.
