Cross de la Chantrerie is a cross-country race held in Parc de la Chantrerie in Nantes, taking place in late autumn and organized by Stade Nantais Athlétisme Club. The schedule includes several races for various age groups, with over 1,700 athletes anticipated throughout the day. It accommodates more than just adult runners: children, youth categories, club runners, masters, trail runners, and relay teams are all part of the same event.
The course features typical cross-country terrain: hilly, muddy, and challenging enough that trail shoes might not suffice, with spikes often a better option. A trail race begins the program, attracting close to 400 participants. The cross-country races have a paid adult entry fee that contributes to operational expenses like sound systems, the announcer, and first aid. The organizers also maintained a mixed relay for teams of four men and women, despite initially modest interest. The race resumed after a previous cancellation due to a storm, adding local significance to an event with a long-standing tradition.
