Défi Vellave is a trail running and walking event held at the Mazel complex in Monistrol-sur-Loire, Haute-Loire, France. Taking place in early March, when the weather is often cold, it includes short trail races, longer trail options, walking routes, and a 6 km canicross for participants with dogs.
The shorter trail follows the town's gentler paths, featuring moderate elevation gain and some technical sections, allowing beginners to experience trail running without tackling the most challenging course. The Monistrail is the intermediate option, while the longest Défi Vellave course is designed for more seasoned runners, presenting approximately 800 meters of climbing, undulating singletrack, demanding middle sections, and a swift final descent to the finish at the Mazel gymnasium.
