Enduro des Sables takes place in Agon-Coutainville, a seaside resort in Manche, Normandy, located on France’s Channel coast. This series features beach and dune running with distances ranging from 4.5 km to 21 km. It also includes races for children and juniors, a night race option, and a category that encourages costumes. The primary 21 km course is described as nearly flat, with approximately 20 meters of elevation gain. However, the challenge lies in the terrain: foreshore, dunes, gravel, and both wet and dry sand that moves underfoot.
The 21 km course traces the coastline from Blainville towards the Agon headland. Runners will navigate beach sections, coastal paths, and wet areas where they might encounter about 20 cm of seawater. The organizers incorporated "Trail" into the race title after some participants found the surface and conditions more demanding than anticipated. This event has a history spanning over forty years and attracts thousands of participants. To preserve the coastline, entry limits are in place for the 14 km and 21 km races.
