Foulées de Saint-Germain begins on the terrace of the Château de Saint-Germain-en-Laye, leading runners directly into a nature-style race around the château grounds and adjacent forest. The race structure is straightforward: a 5 km loop for the short race and Nordic walk, two identical loops for the 10 km, and a 1.5 km children’s race entirely within the château park.
The course utilizes a section of the château terrace before transitioning to broad, accessible forest paths. It follows a counter-clockwise layout, incorporating sufficient sharp turns and pace variations to create a sense of speed. The organizing club, established in 1977, comprises approximately 160 members. Its leadership includes José Carrat as president and dedicated volunteers like M. Hachi, who are also involved with the broader Foulée Royale organization. Among the club’s athletes are masters and local champions, including Gilbert Burtel, who achieved a world bronze medal in the M80 category for the 5000 m, as well as Yvelines titleholders in 10 km, marathon, cross-country, and trail running events.
