Foulées des Dunes takes runners over sand, damp beach, and bark paths in Saint-Brevin-les-Pins, a seaside town in Loire-Atlantique on France’s Atlantic coast. Organized by A.C.B.S.E., the local Athlétisme Club Brévinois Sud Estuaire, this summer race takes place by the ocean. The primary options are 5 km and 10 km races, with a 10 km Nordic walk and children’s Galopades offering shorter distances down to 750 meters. The event is FFA certified and welcomes runners of all levels, from local competitors to families enjoying a beach outing.
The course combines road sections with natural terrain, including dry and wet sand near Saint-Brévin l’Océan and bark-covered paths, requiring more than just road speed. The finish line is on Boulevard de l’Océan, near the tourist office. After many editions, locals consider it a Brévinois institution, supported by volunteers, partners, and spectators. The day also features musical entertainment in the early afternoon, trophies, a raffle, and a charity component: a portion of each registration fee supports DROUJBA, an association for Franco-Ukrainian friendship. A past edition was cancelled due to a heatwave, explaining the morning race schedule.
