Hivernale des Templiers is the winter counterpart to the Festival des Templiers, taking place in December near Roquefort-sur-Soulzon in Aveyron, Occitanie. This trail and night-running event covers the Larzac region, offering six race distances from a short 4.9 km to a 67 km ultra. The timing is significant: December presents more challenging conditions than the autumn Festival des Templiers, making this the colder, more demanding version within the same trail-running series.
The courses utilize routes from the first two editions of the Festival des Templiers, connecting the event to the origins of that race. Participants will traverse forests, cliffs, mountainous terrain, rocky cirques, and historic Larzac villages, with the Roquefort region providing a distinct local backdrop. The event also contributes to the UTMB Index, appealing to trail runners seeking a quantifiable mountain challenge and those desiring a demanding race to conclude the year in the Grands Causses.
