The Infinity Trail Backyard – Nancy is a Backyard Ultra held in Frouard, near Nancy. Runners complete a 6.706 km loop each hour. This event is part of the Infinity Trail circuit of Backyard Ultras throughout France. The Nancy race is in its second edition and takes place in September.
The rules are straightforward: complete the loop within an hour, then use the remaining time to rest before the next hour's start. A 45-minute loop allows 15 minutes for recovery; a 58-minute loop leaves only 2 minutes. The objective is to continue completing loops until only one runner remains. The last person to finish a complete loop wins. This format originated with Lazarus Lake, the organizer of the Barkley Marathons, and is intended for a broad spectrum of runners, not exclusively specialists.
