L'Hivernale de la Grande Champagne is a night trail race held in Charente, within the Grande Champagne vineyard region surrounding Lignières-Sonneville and Bouteville. Runners begin after dark, departing from a setting of stone villages, vineyards, and château estates. The race format is off-road trail running, requiring a headlamp as the courses are entirely run in darkness.
The event is also identified as Trail de la Grande-Champagne, l'Hivernale. The Bouteville iteration features two short, rugged night-trail routes. Race listings also indicate a longer Trail XS option covering 32 km with approximately 900 metres of elevation gain. Bib collection occurs on-site prior to the start, with entries managed via Ikinoa. Advance reservations are necessary, lending the event the character of a deliberate local trail gathering rather than an impromptu run.
