The 66 GTA - Grand Trail de l'Aspre is a 66 km trail race held in Thuir, located in the Pyrénées-Orientales department of Occitanie, southern France. Typically taking place in early March, the main event begins at 06:30. Runners are challenged to ascend 3000 meters across natural, forested, and mountainous landscapes.
The course is a single loop encircling the Aspres region, with passages through Bellecroze, Caixas, and Castelnou, a village recognized as one of France's most beautiful. The highest elevation reached is Mont Helena at 774 meters. Consequently, the race emphasizes consistent climbing and the rural Catalan foothills over flat-out speed. The local club, trailers thuirinois, is the organizer, adopting the slogan “Digne de la route 66” to align with the event's name.
