The La Apulo Gravel du Baugeois begins and ends at the René-d’Anjou cultural center in Baugé-en-Anjou, located in the Baugeois region of western France. This gravel cycling event takes place in late September and offers four distance choices: 50, 70, 100, and 150 km, which are not marked on the course. Participants navigate using GPX tracks, and three aid stations are provided along the routes.
The course combines forest trails, paved roads, stone tracks, and gravel paths, suitable for gravel bikes which are more efficient than mountain bikes on roads but more capable than road bikes on rougher terrain. The routes traverse areas such as the forests of Chandelais and Monnaie, passing through Mouliherne, La Lande-Chasles, Vernantes, Jumelles, Jarzé-Villages, Cheviré-le-Rouge, Échemiré, Clefs, and Saint-Martin-d’Arcé before cyclists return to Baugé via the greenway. The local cycling, mountain bike, and walking club organizes this event in remembrance of Alain Lemêle, a past club president.
