La Corrida du Puy en Velay is an urban trail race held in late November in Le Puy-en-Velay, located in France's Haute-Loire department. The course covers approximately 7.5 km, consisting of two laps of about 3.7 km each, winding through the city's shopping streets. The evening timing contributes to a festive atmosphere, distinguishing it from a typical road race.
The course's length accommodates a diverse range of participants, yet it still requires strategic pacing and stamina across the two laps. Place du Breuil serves as the race center from the afternoon, featuring illumination, a DJ, performers, and activities near the start line. One recent running saw 560 participants compete despite rain and cold, with a field comprising both runners aiming for personal bests and those in costume enjoying the event.
