The Cyclo du Moulin à Vent departs from the guard-post changing rooms at Parc de Parilly, on the Vénissieux side of Lyon. Departures are open from 8 to 10 AM in early October. This is a low-cost cyclotourism event organized by the Amicale Cycliste du Moulin à Vent under the FSGT. It offers two road route options of 60 km and 80 km, and a 60 km mixed gravel and mountain-bike circuit. Helmets are required. Approved electric-assist bikes are permitted if they are not de-restricted.
The road routes go into the hills behind Vienne. The shorter road course follows a revised path from Seyssuel, with a feed stop there for both road distances. The gravel/VTT option combines dirt and tarmac, featuring a hilly and technical profile with newer tracks that create a more rolling terrain than in previous years. A refreshment point may be available near Saint-Pierre-de-Chandieu, contingent on participation. The ride is named the Souvenir Bernard Vermez, concludes with a sandwich and drink, and honors older cycling traditions by planning a gathering for bicycles from the 1990s or earlier.
