レースについて
La Nuit des Cabornes is a night trail race held in the Monts d'Or, approximately 10 km from Lyon. The race begins in Saint-Romain-au-Mont-d'Or in early September. Participants can select a shorter course of approximately 10-11 km with around 500 m of elevation gain, or a longer course of approximately 20-23 km with about 1,000-1,050 m of elevation gain. Saône Mont d'Or Nature organizes the event, which also serves as a bonus round for the Trail Tour Beaujolais. The number of participants is limited to 990 bibs across all races, maintaining a relatively small field for an event situated so close to a major urban center.
The courses primarily utilize paths and traverse wooded areas after sunset. Luminous markers, tape, and marshals provide guidance along the route. A section of the course runs alongside the Roman Aqueduct of the Monts d'Or, within a natural area that features ancient quarries, Roman artifacts, protected species, and over 7,000 hectares of natural landscape. The longer race includes time checkpoints at mid-course and later stages, with volunteers assisting any runners who do not meet these cutoffs. Some race formats offer mixed-team competitions, and aid stations provide both beverages and food along the course.
