Costumes are more important than the clock at La Ronde des Vignobles, an 11 km run-or-walk in Cuers, in the Var department of southern France. It takes place in early October and is not timed, so the aim is to move through the vineyards at a comfortable pace rather than chase a result.
The route goes through the heart of the local vines, with open views of the surrounding Var countryside and a nature-and-wine theme throughout the day. Runners and walkers share the same festive course, and dressing up is part of the fun. The name also appears on a separate Fronsadais free-pace hike, where participants choose anything from 8 to 64 km through eight villages, with village-hall refreshment stops and buses back to starting points.
