La Voie Royale is a mid-October running event in Saint-Denis, north of Paris, organized since 1993. It features a half marathon, a 10 km race, Nordic walking, and La Belle Vadrouille, a 5 km sport-and-health run at a free pace with no ranking. The event was established to link Saint-Denis neighborhoods through running, fostering a local and sporting atmosphere: typically around 3,500 runners, 350 volunteers, and 23 associations participate.
The routes incorporate the city, passing major Saint-Denis landmarks like the Basilica, the Maison and park of the Legion of Honour, and the Stade de France. All race formats include the Stade de France, with races finishing there and spectators able to watch from the grandstand. The 5 km is the most relaxed option, suitable for families and friends, while the 10 km and half marathon offer more structure for regular runners. The day also includes activities, a children’s village, and partner areas, positioning it as a city event rather than a straightforward race.
