The 10K Montmartre AG2R La Mondiale is a 10-kilometer race through Paris's 18th arrondissement, held in January on the streets surrounding Montmartre. The course is not designed for runners seeking a flat, standard 10K. It features cobblestones, narrow lanes, and significant elevation changes, meaning climbing ability is as important as speed.
ASO organizes the event, aiming to guide runners through the Montmartre climbs that were featured in Olympic cycling events. The route incorporates the neighborhood's character, including its artists, small cafes, confined streets, Parisian viewpoints, and the challenge of uphill running on aged pavement. It appeals to runners who appreciate a demanding urban course and are prepared to begin their season with what a participant described as a "first slap".
