Le Dernier Millésime is a trail race held in Barzy-sur-Marne, a village situated in the Marne Valley between notable Champagne towns and vineyards. The event takes place on Easter Monday, commencing in the morning with participants completing an 8.3 km loop that ascends approximately 300 meters per circuit. The race structure is straightforward yet demanding: complete the loop within the allotted time, or the race concludes. More capable runners have the option to continue for up to four loops, extending the total distance to 33.2 km with around 1,200 meters of elevation gain.
The course is designed for runners seeking repeated ascents, measured pacing, and a rigorous early-season trail training session, as opposed to a single, extended point-to-point course. Participation is limited to 150 individuals, and registration must be completed online. Runners can compete individually or as part of a team relay. The local connection to Champagne is integral to the event; each participant is awarded a bottle of champagne, and race information and regulations are disseminated via the Champagne Faÿ channels.
