The Le Fresn'Urban Trail takes place in mid-February in Fresnay-sur-Sarthe, a small town in the Sarthe department designated a Petite Cité de caractère. It is an urban trail offering two adult distances: 5 km or 10 km, both utilizing the same 5 km loop, run once or twice. The afternoon schedule keeps the event concise, with the 5 km race preceding the 10 km, and two complimentary children's races scheduled around them.
The course winds through the historic streets of Fresnay-sur-Sarthe, passes the town's medieval castle, follows the Sarthe river, and ascends the Coteau des Vignes. This climb is situated within a protected sensitive natural area, distinguishing the race from a simple town run. Families are included in the day's activities: children can participate in the 2 km Galopades Fresnoises or the 650 m Balade des bambins. Following the races, participants enjoy crepes and mulled wine, contributing to the event's modest, local character rather than a large-city race ambiance.
